๐Ÿฌ The Bryant Square Park Dolphin Is Ready to Shine Again! ๐Ÿฌ

Great news, South Uptown! Starting Tuesday, October 20, the plastic wrap will come off the beloved dolphin mosaic sculpture at Bryant Square Park, revealing a freshly restored sculpture for the neighborhood to enjoy for many years to come!

Earlier this summer, we discovered that several sections of the mosaic tiles were missing or crumbling off the sculpture. The sudden, scattered damage appeared consistent with vandalism, so Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board staff and South Uptown Neighborhood Association (SUNA) volunteers wrapped the dolphin in plastic to protect it from further damage.

Since late August, dedicated SUNA volunteers have been hard at work bringing our dolphin back to life! Their efforts included applying a new base layer to damaged sections, cutting and installing replacement tiles, and, most recently, re-grouting the entire sculpture this past Saturday. ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ๐ŸŽจ

A HUGE thank-you to Kellie and Greg for leading this effort, and to Sarah, Jessie, Mary Ann, Laura, Katherine, Brad and Carol for rolling up their sleeves to help! โค๏ธ

This restoration was made possible in part by your financial contributions to SUNA, which allowed us to act quickly and purchase the tile, grout and other supplies needed for the repair.
